Project 1- Intro

The Lip Syncing video/ Cover, is not only a remix of the traditional Karokee style singing that our parents would blast out at family reunions or just at parties in general, but its a version of singing that can be seen as something meaningless and talentless, which some say parody videos may fall underneath the same category. Whether thats true or not is under what you believe to be talent. The Rapidity of the songs used for covers or for lip sync videos is comparable to the viral parody video like “How Animals Each their food”. The Lip Sync, and Cover video genre enhances the ability of people to get more connected with current music and even enhances their happiness and ability to sing. The way theses videos reverse the way we see the lip sync video and cover is that we see it as talentless to lip sync, and that anyone with a laptop or camera can create a cover a song. What it obsolesces is the ability to go to karaoke bars or bars in general to find hidden talent like back in the day, singers were found from underground concerts or trying to get their music heard but now anyone can just come out and post a video of themselves singing (talent or no talent) people are not just going to browse YouTube for the next hit singer (Clutch32 actually has scouts that do this) so it also in a way retrieves this ability of a scout looking for hidden talent.

*Clutch 32 is ran by a man named Ryan Fulps, his small but up and coming company look at YouTube artists and connects them with talent scouts that run major label companies. The idea behind this company is something that Justin Bieber went through in order to became the star he is today.

When looking into Lip Syncing videos and Cover videos we look into three possible categories, Songs chosen, people doing the lip sync/ cover, and how it spreads.
