 July 13- #Selfie- Offical Trailer http://filmmediaculture.wordpress.com/2014/07/13/9/
The reason I posted the # Selfie Trailer was because we were focusing on the idea of “spreadability”, “Viral” and the idea of what creates a participatory culture. This video is a perfect example of how the idea of a selfie that we’ve discussed in vast lengths in class, became this huge sensation that now they are creating a movie based off the idea itself- which that idea is considered to be an example of something that fits in the “stickiness” that is easily spreadable/ viral.
July 14- Fine Bros Show Walkmans to Confused Kids-
The reason I posted Fine Bros Show Walkmans to Confused Kids- was because of the way it showed the new Digital Generation, at work with something from the past. It was something used perfectly when looking at the tetrad based off the idea of enhance, reverse, retrieve, obsolesces. When looking into the Sony Walkman in comparison to an iPod is a huge within the generational gap (Discussed in Group Discussions).
July 15- The Count Song-
The Count Song was posted because of the idea of a remix and how we were discussing that remixes can be a parody or something serious. Now when looking back at it, it also hits the idea of how “humor” is used in a participatory culture in order to attract attention and more of a broader audience. Its using the “amateur” creator to exploit something that is innocent like counting to exposes a humor within it to attract a more adult audience.
July 15- Sexual Healing
When it comes to “Sexual Healing” we discussed how the background of the video was the melody and rhythm of the Marvin Gays song Sexual Healing, and how its a Remixed Media within itself because its not only hitting fans of the song but also poets. This video hits the Idea within the RW, Revived reading we have on the idea of “barrage” from an original (Song) to becoming a new source from a remix artist that happens to be a spoken out poet. It uses the idea of “Cultural Reference” (RW, Revived) in order to go viral and hit a broader audience.
July 16- FreeRice
Free Rice was used in order to help show a new tip of media literacy that I had found, that is also used for the participatory culture as a whole. It was also that idea adapting to a new way of learning and helping the world. That the use of collaboration and networking within this site helps feed a different country, and that by doing this is a sense of not only spreading a viral sense of community but actually using our resources of “common math” to help the rest of the world, creating a sense of “rhetorical velocity” in it’s own manner.
July 22- Twilight Meme
The Twilight Meme was something posted due to its relevance to its humor, and relevance to the “Meme” topic of the day. The Twilight Meme was relatable to the fecundity of the subject its based off of and how its able to hold a sense of longevity due to its spreadability on the subject manner its about and by using that subject manner it held a strong fidelity.
